We're Not Worthy
Welcome to those of you who are coming via the Rhapsody listeners heaven, The Radish. Isn't that site ridiculous? Robert's knowledge of music is truly astounding. I am honored that he has invited me to post on his blog and hope I can add a little to the already amazing mix available on his site. For those of you who are already familiar with my site, you know that my focus is to find new and exciting music. I am the type who usually listens to whole albums at a time and only pull up playlists mixes every so often, so most of my posts are entire albums rather than mixes. But, every now and then I'm moved to compile what I've been listening to lately into a massive playlist... For my first Radish post, I thought I'd go for the truly obscure that I am sure most of you are not familiar with yet. The Joy Electric is basically a one-man band--a dude with a Roland synthesizer and that's pretty much it. I know, I know... ewwwwww was my first reaction too. But you've really got to give this one a listen. He has a solid command of melody and countermelody and produces that 80's-perfect blend of modernism and hooks, all without seeming too hokey... which is hard to do. I find myself listening to his latest album over and over. Its addictive! Enjoy!
