Sprinkers On At Tilt... Run For Your Lives, Kiddies!

Ok, this one's not on Rhapsody... Seems that Merge Records is not too interested in the whole online music thingy. Must be too "digital" for them. I need to go over to their offices (which are nearby) and tell them to get off their collective asses and catch up. Especially since they are releasing some of the best albums of the year... Like this one... currently at the top of my list for 2004. After much urging by several of my trusted online music sites, I went out and purchased this disc. Luckily, it was one of those discs I wasn't too sure about at first. A part of me gets really, really excited when on my first listen I am thinking "eh, I'm not too sure about this one." That usually means I'm going to love it eventually... Unless of course we're talking about the Celine Dion-ish discs my wife sneaks into our collection. Anyway, this one is getting more and more fantastic with each listen. Its a little Neutral Milk Hotel, a little Pixies, mixed with some hearty originality and lots of emotion. The variation in textures within each song is not formulaic and has repeatedly brought a welcome "Oh!" from me when the come... Gotta love a band that keeps a Music major guessing... Ok, that's enough from me on it. Go get your own and come up with your own opinions! I don't like affecting my [two] readers too much. Enjoy!
