As some of you might be able to tell, I like to be challenged by musicians. No, that doesn't mean they all have to be like Radiohead and use bizarre textures and instrumentation. They just have to pull me out of my comfort zone, or my "expectation zone" to make me really think about whether I like it or not. I am definitely one of those folks who often finds his favorite albums are the ones he didn't like too much at first. This album is definitely one of those. Its been out for a few months, but I am just now getting my head around it and really believing in what they are doing. Its an amazing feeling, you know... that feeling when you sink below the surface noises and sounds and swim in the protoplasm of the song, letting it push and pull you at will... that moment when you stop trying to control the music and it controls you... Phew, am I a sap or what?!? Anyway, don't be surprised if your first listen of this album isn't extremely enjoyable. Give it a few listens before you draw your final conclusions. I can't guarantee, but I sure hope you do: Enjoy.
